CARTMEL FELL GUIDED WALK
Suitable for all the family
Sunday 10TH May 2009, starting at 2pm
This is a lovely walk over the Cartmel Fells in Cumbria.
We walk through beautiful countryside with wonderful views of the Lakeland Fells and out to the coast. There’s a tarn half way round, in previous years we have had lovely hot days and dogs can enjoy a welcome swim [a paddle for some].
Afternoon teas are served on returning to the village hall, sandwiches with homemade cakes and scones with tea coffee or juice.
This is a great opportunity to meet other Springer adopters, exchange stories and make new friends, especially if you’ve adopted in the last year. We’d love to see familiar faces and new.
* The walk takes about 2 hrs and is not very strenuous; we’ve had from 6 to 72 year olds in the past.
* Parking at Cartmel Fell village hall. Note - Not the village of Cartmel which is 10 miles away
* If you don’t want to walk then just enjoy the surroundings and join us for tea.
* Full afternoon tea costs £3 per adult with half price for children and we ask you to make a donation to join the walk.
All proceeds go straight to NESSR as Peter & Maureen provide the food and drinks as a donation.
There are limited numbers for the walk so please contact Bigjim via the forum or email info@nessr.net ASAP to confirm if you will be coming and with the number of humans.
(Directions to be added at a later date)

Northern English Springer Spaniel Rescue is very pleased to announce
that as a result of our application to Office Scottish Charity
Registration (OSCR) just over 3 months ago we have been granted our
formal status as a Scottish Charity.
Earlier this year we
approached OSCR to discuss our work in Scotland both in terms of the
dogs we help and also our fundraising. We were told then that they were
happy for us to work in scotland and fundraise. However we felt that it
would benefit NESSR and the dogs from Scotland if we applied for
Scottish Charity Status on top of our England & Wales status, many
other UK wide charities do this. Due to time commitments we were not
able to get our application in til late summer, it takes at least 3
months for it to be looked at and approved. OSCR told us in a letter today that we had met all the criteria needed to become a scottish registered charity.
This
new Scottish Charitable Status will not change the way we work. We will
not be operating seperately in Scotland, our annual audited accounts
will be submitted to both charity commissions (this is allowed). The
benefit of remaining as one organisation is that we are able to keep
administration costs to a minimum whilst at the same time making sure
that all the dogs we help regardless of their geographic location will
get the same benefits of being helped by NESSR. We will be able to
spread our work in Scotland and fundraise more easily in that area to
help ensure we continue to have the funds to help the scottish dogs. In
time we hope that we will be able to increase our existing pool of
volunteers in Scotland as well as other areas of the UK so that more
and more dogs can be helped.
We are very excited about this news and hope that it will open up new opportunities to spread the work and word of NESSR.
Thanks
The NESSR Team
The big day finally arrived and we excitedly drove down to meet Scruffy , we though he was adorable and fortunately for us, he seemed to like us too so we were able to take him home. We were really happy but I know it was hard for Liz and Nev who had become attached to him during the time they've looked after him.
Scruffy and our other Springer, Holly settled down in the back of the car and were absolute stars the during the drive back to Scotland. When we got home Scruffy came bounding into the house, had a good sniff round and then jumped up on the sofa quite
happily. Holly seemed a little put out initially and I'm sure she was thinking "is he still here" but there were no fights just a few curled lips on Holly's part but over the last few days she seems to have
